Sharon Friel is a young singer songwriter from Brisbane. Although she is relatively new to the scene she is has committed to learning as much as she can about song writing and the music industry.

The result, a sophisticated debut EP and enviable live show. 2009 was a busy development year for this unique and eclectic artist. She and her younger brother Daniel Friel (Princes of Harlin) experimented with various styles until they found a sound that represented her fearless approach to song writing.

In early 2010 Sharon recorded her debut EP with under the watchful eye of producer Caleb James (Yves Klein Blue, Rhubarb). This collaboration produced a mix of soul and rock which create the perfect musical setting for Sharon's sometimes confronting lyrical content. Sharon has been working consistently to establish her name on the scene and has impressed many industry insiders who are calling her the one to watch for 2010.

The Straight and Narrow are a young indie rock act from Brisbane's West. The band formed in 2007, spending much of the early years playing locally and writing and recording their debut first EP 'The Same Smooth Taste'. The addition of two new members in 2009 ultimately changed the direction of the band in terms of its sound and presence in the music scene. The Straight and Narrow takes this opportunity to launch their second EP 'The Colour of White' which is a collection of the bands fresh tracks."

The dawn of rock'n'roll has been compared to the moment the pagans met the christians face to face against the background of roman decadence, imperial decay and erotic barbarity. Through the years though, rock'n'roll has been tamed from being a vortex of inscrutability to its current status, as a genetically modified fast food meal which induces indigestion. Some brave souls however remember the original violence and the revolutionary pretence of the artform. One such band are The Ninjas. Stylistically fecund and respecting no aesthetic boundries, The Ninjas continue to confound, excite and arouse.

Dirtier than a quarry floor with more raw power than a sushi-fuelled rocket, Beware the Hippos are fast becoming a staple of Brisbane's live music scene. Bringing the raw blues back into rock'n'roll, this band has shunned the generic image of modern blues-rock outfits to create something unique and, some might say, profoundly beautiful. Those people have obviously never seen them play live.

Support capably comes from the rocking sounds of Transvaal Diamond Syndicate and The Royal Orleans! Riverfire? More like RiverRock! See you there.
