Avalon Drive are announcing a special pre-release Brisbane show at The Zoo. The Brisbane four-piece will preview newly recorded tracks, live, which will feature on the bands forthcomming EP release through SonyBMG.

This will be one of the only chances fans will get to experience the new tracks live before the EP’s release later in August, including the band’s new single which will go to radio mid-August. “It’s been stressful, hectic and amazing,” guitarist Shane O’Keeffe describes the writing process. “We have really put our hearts into this EP and couldn't be prouder,” adds singer, Damion Page.

Having played as Rove’s (Channel Ten) house band in 2006, the band spent much of their career on the road touring with bands such as INXS, The Veronicas, Fall Out Boy, All American Rejects, Yelllowcard and Matchbook Romance.

Supported by The Paper & The Plane and A Year to Remember.

Indie four-piece Twist Oliver, Twist! don’t shy away from the big questions with their unique brand of electro-based punk rock. Frontman, bassist and songwriter David Cleary often looks to the frailty of the human condition for lyrical fodder, penning songs about subjects as diverse as how the quality of a person’s upbringing shapes their outlook; the destructive tendencies of man and “people who take themselves way too seriously”.

“A lot of my lyrics are pretty relevant to a time and space,” Cleary said. “I’m inspired by philosophy, sociology, politics, social justice and ecology.”

When his thoughtful prose is combined with energetic, atmospheric melodies, the results are infectious tunes that also mean something. TOT! is Cleary, synthist Bryn Ridd, guitarist Al Collett and drummer Tom Roche. Together an unstoppable force, they won a Triple J Unearthed competition last year, which saw them take the stage at the Parklife festival, and resulted in national airplay. This year have headlined around Brisbane and opened for such indie heavyweights as The Bravery.

Supporting on the night are local acts Hunz, Blue Carousel and The Repetition. “Apart from being bands we're fond of, we wanted them because they all utilise synthesizers and electronic elements in their music, but they're all completely different in their execution.”
